Choukran Reem, you are most welcome. It is a nice mysterious looking wood this one and I always love walking in the fog there though I haven't met any witches there yet, they must be hiding well I think.

The moss is lovely isn't it? We had so much rain last year that moss was about the only thing that did well, people joke about the 18 month winter that we just had, but the weather has certainly changed here now. We seem to have gone directly from winter to summer and missed the spring weather somehow. And you have had rain there too? There is a beautiful smell after the rain; it's a dusty sort of smell here after it rains, maybe it's the same everywhere, I don't know really.

Thanks very much my friend Reem and all the best to you there.

When I was young I used to dream of deserts and drew many pictures of desert landscapes, a place to escape to I suppose. I liked the idea of heat and space.

The changing of the seasons here is something I appreciate more and more each year. Seeing the first signs of spring or feeling the cool hint of a winter wind coming. Three dry years is a long time. There are droughts in many places now. I wonder if they have increased. I should have a look really.

I thought I heard a swift returning the other day. The first of the spring. I've only heard them a couple of times, maybe they were just passing through at the moment. It's light here now until nearly half nine/ten o clock and such a sudden change from our short winter days that we think it's still early because it's light.

I planted some grass seed about a week or so ago and it seemed to come up overnight two days ago after a good rain. We were walking up the river late in the evening and we saw an otter swimming, then walking along a bank and then back into the water again. I haven't seen one for a long time and it was a good birthday surprise for a friend too.

I very much hope for peace in your country too Reem and that are able to go back again soon.

Cheers Reem and all the best to you.
