Nice one

I noticed that 'keep Calm' thing , and considering all the shit that goes on I assumed it was govt. programme to tranquilise people who do not , uh, keep calm. coz if you aren't calm then by default you are aggressive.

cheers

Cheers aferrismoon. Yes it seemed like the slogan was everywhere for a while, like some sort of retro nostalgia propaganda campaign.

I don't know to what level this appeared in other countries but for those that don't know, the original was "KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON" and according to the wiki it was printed in 1939 and held for the possibility of a Nazi invasion. Another that we have to suffer is the "we're all in this together" line, which is such a whopper. cheers.

I would be quite interested to know to what level, if any, this did appear in other countries. Was it too English to travel?

I use a blue paint-pen to write stuff around but that's not my handwriting. love it. all best to you and yours.

Hi P2P and thanks. I don't have a blue pen so I'm pretty sure it's not mine either. Hope all is going well where you are. All the best to you and yours too.

I noticed it via the 'net, there was no campaign here.

Sort of fits in with 'retro'looking Bradley Wiggins

cheers

Thanks aferrismoon, I had wondered whether this had happened anywhere else, though it did seem a bit too parochial, and yes, Bradley Wiggins and the whole Olympic circus. A good time for distraction and also an opportunity to pump up the English pride, never mind how much it all costs as we always have plenty of money for this sort of stuff. I was surprised that the weather was ok for the Olympics as it was lousy the rest of the year.

The royal pregnancy thing is up and running here now and there's a fair amount of mileage to be squeezed out of this and the forthcoming child, we'll never hear the end of it. There seemed to be quite an effort to promote the royal family last year one way or another, from the Jubilee to the topless photos of Kate, all good publicity and a predictable distraction. Cheers.
